I agree. It is lasting. It has been since the '80s. It is not fair that people have a grudge against us. I mean, we did not even say anything to them. I'm an individual, I will be who I want to be. But anyways, people think emos are always depressed and suicidal. Get a grip, we are not. The term is so loosely defined, I think that's why people are so rude. I like the style of clothes I wear and my hairstyle. Emo guys are hot! :D
Lol this makes me laugh:
Emo fashion has changed with time; early trends included haircuts similar to those worn by the Romulans and Vulcans in Star Trek, tightly fitting sweaters, button-down shirts, and work jackets (often called gas station jackets). These trends are not as popular in the emo scene anymore.

How can a person define themselves in a seperate group and then claim to be no different from any other?
There are specific characteristics that can make a person "emo" and some people don't like those characteristics. Because people choose and put effort into becoming "emo," those who dislike it have no problem with saying so (unlike something such as race or sexuality which isn't choosen by the person)

I don't have a thing against Emos. Alot of people label me as one, but I don't like the whole labeling idea. I just believe in being yourself. The term Emo has been around for a long time, probably before you and I were even born, I just found that out the other day on some website. So, I say be yourself, don't worry about what others have to say, and don't change for anyone.

Most people antagonise against emos because they feel that emos don't really have anything to be miserable about. I have to agree with that point of view to an extent, without being subculturally descriminative.
Also, alot of people despise emo music for destroying the legacy of the punk movement even more than pop-punk bands like Green Day.

Its a generalisation but to me, Emo's are just people who are crying out for attention and try to get it by looking like an idiot. Its so sad how its actually got a set fashion. I'm sure that some emo's are lovely people but being emo is just not cool. I'm not some old fogie who thinks this, i'm 15.

emos get the most s.hit because of the appearance. goths/sceansters are loud visually, so ppl stay away, and punks will bite heads off and/or screech(I know firsthand, I am a punk) while most emos just sit there. and guys in their sister's pants are very funny... El Brian is very right, it is bull.s.hit
