im just starting acoustic guitar and i was wondering when i hold down a chord the strings im holding don't make sound they just like mute when my fingers are on them help please!

Don't get discouraged, we all went through this stage when we first started out, the skin on your fingers are still as soft as a baby's butt, but in time, as you keep playing , this skin will harden into some stiffer skin, that is necessary, to keep the skin from muting the notes, just don't give up, I'm glad I didn't, and it made me the wonderful guitar player that I am today !! I never imagined I would ever be able to play as much guitar as I do now, just don't give up!!

When first starting, you should get your fingers in the proper posiiton for each chord and then hit each string one at a time and adjust you fingers until all the strings ring out clearly. It'll take some work, but you'll get there

You're either not pressing hard enough, or you're pressing down somewhere else where you shouldn't be.

perhaps you're not pressing hard enough with your fret hand
