Hey everyone, I have to drive from Atlanta to New York on Saturday and then drive home on Monday. We're planning on driving through Washington DC on the way there to sight-see and driving through Philadelphia on the way home. It's for a job interview, but I'm wondering if I should cancel the trip because of the blizzard. Does anybody know any good way to check on that kind-of thing? I really need to get there for the interview on Monday, but I'm not too comfortable driving in ice or snow, because I've lived in Atlanta my whole life! Any comments/advice is appreciated!!

Wow yeah I'm doing the same thing actually, just next week. From Missouri to NY State. I've dont alot of research on it and i've found quite a few sights that help alot.

The following link will give you a real time transportation status of all the roads plus some camera views so you can see where the snow is and how the highways look. The roads will have certain insignia if they are closed or too dangerous located on the key to the right:

This second link will actually give you a degree of how dry and wet or icy the roads are. I would mapquest your route (if you haven't already) and see what highways you will be taking, then look them up here to see of their conditions. Colour cordinated roads are indicated via the left.

(the acutaly picture and map is located on the lower right and labeled Winter Travel Advisory. You can also mapquest and pick a route that chooses to skip around sesonaly closed roads.

Also if you go to www.weather.com you can see the ten day forecast. I called a few of the hotels up there and they figure the roads will be generally clear within Saturday Feburary 17, 2007.

I also asked if my car could handel the weather on a previous question on here. Some people had some good sights for snow chains and socks:

I hope this has helped. I have some more tips if your interested just e-mail me at rinoboy_87@hotmail.com

Good Luck!

First of all, watch the news!! Have you seen the snow they've been getting up there?!

But seriously, check out the National Weather Service website for NYC. They have up-to-the-minute information on the weather and driving conditions. I know the interview is important, but there are 1000's of people stranded right now in airports and on the roads between there and Atlanta. If you can possibly contact the potential employer and reschedule, then do it!

I'm from the New York City Area. Usually all of the major roads are clean and set to go a few hours after a storm is over. It's just the side roads and parking spots that are still a problem afterwards.

i might fairly elect to work out the tournament-up, although that's an rather long shot for the Braves to make it to the playoffs, via their loss of great hitting. whether they do make it, the Yankees are gonna take the identify. Yankees each of how!!!!!!!!!!!
