I am trying to make a unit plan for my own credential class but I am not too sure if this is okay. I am writing a social studies unit plan for 3rd grade about laws. I dont have all the resources I need so how much in detail do you go into about learning how laws are made, how they are followed, and consequences? I just feel that I am going into too much detail if it is only brushed into for 3rd grade. It also has to go with the CA standards as well.

It is a topic that is covered in more detail later. Basically it is brushed upon in elementary and each year there is a little more information added to it. By the time the kids get to high school the kids are given the exact process and sometimes will even try to pass a law by following the process.

I would guess that you do not have to go into exact detail for third grade. If you give them too much information they are going to be confused. It is a confusing process even for adults to understand sometimes. Give enough information so that the kids can get a basic understanding.
