In the last 10 or so years, do you think that more people now hate the USA than ever before ?

Most of the Middle East seems to loathe the US, whilst burning the Stars & Stripes seems to be a popular pastime in several African countries.

Even most European countries appear to distance themselves from the US.

Is the USA really hated that much abroad ?

I didn't realize how much the world hates America until I went to Amsterdam and spoke to the locals. "You Americans with your bombs and your tanks you do not understand" University of Amsterdam student
But then it is very far away over there and there are things like
"I watch the Jerry Springer show" Norway as in he understands all about Americans from the Jerry Springer Phenomenon which existed when I was out there.
I would say for certain that every coarse of action George Bush has taken over sea's is exactly what the people in Europe as a whole don't like about America and opinion has declined. (which is a little scary because it was BAD in 2000.

The same reason libs love to hate wealthy folks.....its called envy. If we didn't have a dime they would love us to death. The world has always needed whipping boys to blame their sad lot in life on. Its our turn in the barrel.. But they all would sure love to live here. Seems like our neighbors south of the border don't think its too bad. Burning the American flag is a national pastime in a lot of countries where the government wants people to forget about its own weaknesses and shortcomings. A nice safe scapegoat they can blame their pitiful existence on. Others just need something to do while they collect their subsidies. As far as the Eu is concerned, very few countries want to get in the line of fire no matter what the cause. They are the protected that neither appreciate or care about us.

Why are a couple answers acting like the only people that hate these countries live in these countries O.O Unless England and the US have completely colonized the Earth I'm not sure what that means:P But I thinks its because these were the big powers recently. England not long ago and the US after WWII and the Cold War. The Soviets got their share of hate when they existed, and I'm sure China will as well when they become more established as a big power.

The people around the world don't hate us as much as the press hates us. The press makes money promoting hate, crime and blood shed.

The people in the Middle East burn flags and you see it on the news. How about the people in the USA burning flags? The military defend their right to do it. Yet the flag burners won't give people the right to honor or respect flag. We're not allowed to pray or say the Pledge of Allegence in public. Because we have to respect their rights. What about the rights of the flag wavers?

European countries like France distance themselves from us. Because if they didn't they'd be asked to stand up to the plate and help us fight against terrorism. Wait till they need our help and see if they distance themselves from us or come screaming for our help.

Is the USA really hated that much abroad? If you watch CNN...yes. They are not about to show you children coming up to US soldiers and thanking them. Or crowds cheering because the US liberated their country for them. Do you think Iraq hates us for building them schools, hospitals, giving them utilities that they never had before. Turn off CNN and talk to some of the returning military. If we are hated as much and the news tells you, then why do so many troops volunteer to go back? They can see the good we are doing.

Its economics and politics...what sells the news? What political party do most news support? You think Bush gets rich off oil. Look what democrats get off the news. Who do you really think is selling you a sack of BS?

No i dont hate the American people just that bloody imbocile of a president in power, get rid of him and maybe America will become more freind than foe again...America is a great nation I would rather have as a freind than an enemy by the way...so up yours France!

But please stop thinking you are the BEST nation on earth, that is subjective and I personally am happy where I am, I can visit the USA whenever I want but that dosnt mean I want to live there...

It's not new, trust me. I grew up watching ME fanatics burning our flag. And most of Europe has a love/hate relationship with America and has for quite some time.

What I want to know is this - how many other countries are full of citizens who sincerely care what the rest of the world thinks? Is this a universal issue, or just an American one?

It is an absolute certainty more people now hate the USA than ever before, and yes the USA is really hated that much abroad. Expect it to get even worse, unless the USA renounces Christianity, the end is obvious and biblical in nature.

If you check your history, you will find that the "hatred" of the world ebbs and flows according to what is happening at the moment. Go back and see what other countries were saying about the U.S. during the height of the Vietnam War. I think you will find that is is comparable to what is being said today.

Ironically, with all the ups and downs of world opinion, securing immigrants to our shores has never been an issue.

I wonder why that is?

Most nations (namely, those not in our pockets) disapprove of our government, rather than our country. There are people of religious conviction that do not approve of how Americans live, but they await Gods judgement to be passed on us. Noone is trying to destroy america except a few inept people. And if they can possibly succeed, is it true that the meek will inherit the earth?

why should we care if they hate the usa. their own countries are in a mess. they need to fix their own problems first before criticizing.

The USA is the best country GOD ever gave to man. People are trying to get into this country to live the American dream -- and that includes multitudes of people from those American-hating countries. Hmm, we must be doing something right.
