William Edward Burghardt Du Bois (pronounced [dʊˈboyz]) (February 23, 1868 – August 27, 1963) was an American civil rights activist, leader, Pan-Africanist, sociologist, educator, historian, writer, editor, poet, and scholar. He became a naturalized citizen of Ghana in 1963 at the age of 95.

the only connection with him and his father to the Hugenots may be the emigration of the Calvinist French to the new world during the times of persecution by the Roman Catholic French monarchies as referenced above and maybe they were ancestors/ slavemasters of Dubois parentage because Alfred (the father of W.E.B. Dubois)was originally born on the Island of Hispaniola in San Domingo which had been under Haitian rule (a former French colony) in the area of the Island now known as the Dominican Republic.

The Huguenots were French Protestants in the 17th century. At first, following the Edict of Nantes of 1598, they were allowed freedom of worship but that was revoked by Louis XIV (Edict of Fontainbleu). As a result, many French protestants fled to other, Protestant, countries, particularly England. Here they were welcomed and became a valued part of the community, being particularly involved in silk-weaving in the East End of London. I know nothing of the names you mention, however.

You got a commie teacher from the sixties...nutcase.

Queen Katherine De Medici of France executed several thousand protestants by decreeing possession of their property belonged to anyone who killed them. One day later 6,000 dead. Around 1600.

This was chief cause for British and French flight to America which is founded on freedom of religion, unlike Spanish colonization founded on gold silver and slavery of Indians.

Adorables: the last comment was a bit selective. America itself was founded on black slaves. Does that make it superior to the Spanish empire?
