The union bargains for your working conditions, wages, retirement plan and benefits. If the company wants to get rid of your job, a union is there with contract in hand to support you. Without a union, you are summarily dismissed, and your benefits are solely at discretion of the company.

it is just a matter of whether or not you belong to a union. some unions make sure their employees get good benefits. other comapanies just give good benefits on their own accord. But, most companies either are union or non union and you go by their rules whether that means to join their union or get a job that does not have a union
