It depends on the language which we are using. In Hindi it is 'Sri'and 'Sriman' for males and 'mahoday' for females.
'Sri' is being used in most of the Indian languages as a title word of respect like 'Avalgaru' in Tamil.
This variation is because Hindus as such follow different languages which are prevalent as region specific through out India.
