We have used it for pizza heat-ups, toast and breakfast sandwiches- and it is in need of a good cleaning. I don't know what (cleaning solution-wise) I can use to safely clean it. Thanks for all replies and suggestions!

Make sure it is UNPLUGGED. Set a cup of ammonia inside and leave it overnight...in the morning dispose of the ammonia and wipe the oven clean. It works like a charm

I clean the outside with plain glass cleaner and a paper towel. The inside gets special treatment since I don't wan't my food to stink, or the oven to smoke! I open the door and level it with a pair of empty tuna cans. (You may have to find something else to get the door to stay level when open.) Then I mix some Bon Ami non scratch cleanser with some plain dish soap. I rub that on and leave it sit until it dries. Then I take a damp towel and clean it off. It works, but it's a pain. There is always a little bit of crust you can't get out of the corners, and you have to remove ALL the cleaner. If you don't, the next batch you make in the toaster oven smells funny.

I had the same problem! I took Dawn lemon scent, and i put some on one of those pads that is a sponge on one side and a scratcher on the other and rubbed the soap all over, I let it set a few minutes then I wet the scrubby and just started scrubbing away. It got really clean! Dump all the crumbs out first though. Then at the end take a paper towl and wipe it clean to get all the soap out. You'll be good to go!

Well first make sure the toaster oven is unplugged. Then see if there is a tray underneath it that will pull out. To wipe it clean use a damp sponge that has some water on it. Also, if you do not have a tray that comes out you will have to pick it up and shake it so that the crumbs will come out.

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
1.Turn upside down and shake to get inside crumbs out.
2.We buy this cleaning cloth off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve

make sure the device is unplugged---then empty trays if it has such---if not turn over and shake over garbage or sink---then us a think wisking type brush to scrub the inside (use just basic dish soap and water)---this should help break up the food particals and clean the toaster's inside

Try "Tough & Tender" or "Mel Magic". They work great. If your toaster oven got dirty too much then try "Mel Magic". Works great, at the same time, they are 100% non-toxic, chemical free so you can ease your mind in using it for stove kind of appliances.
