there was 1 episode and he had writen his name on a paper and they were readin him name and they said tht the last naem had a smudge on it, did they ever say his last name in any of the episodes??

No.I remember that episode when they siad there was a smudge on his last name.I guess that was the running joke throughout the whole series.Such a good show that was.I wished they would still play it on Nickelodeon. The question I had was what was up with the pet pig?

Not sure if this is true or not but Wikopedia says this - which does sound true :

"In late 2002, Bartlett teased the viewers even further, by claiming that Arnold's last name is a name that was actually mentioned throughout the run of the show. This claim lead many fans to believe that his last name could be 'Shortman' due to the constant use of the term 'Short Man' used by Arnold's grandpa. In a November 2006 fan chat with Bartlett, the rumor was verified and Arnold's last name was officially revealed as Shortman."

i use to watch hey Arnold
and i do remember where he had written his name on a paper
and they said that his last name had a smudge on it and it was never mentioned in any other episodes.

It was never revealed but on the wikipedia website it says his surname is Shortman.
