i recently got a new computer and i like to play games on it like world of warcraft. the specs of my computer are 512mb 3200mhz ram, 80gb drive, sempron procesor 1.8ghz, geforce fx 5200 series 256mb video card. my prosessor is a bit slow and im getting new ram soon so i can play battlefield 2142 but i hear that i need a whole new motherboard for a processor. is there a place i can take my new pentium processor to so they can install it? will it make my computer run faster then just buying another 512mb ram to equal 1gb?

You need new RAM, a better video card, and a better processor to run Battlefield 2142 effectively. You will definately not be able to put a Pentium on that board, AMD sockets (which you have now) are never compatible with Intel processors.

Your processor is an 8/10 AMD (Advanced Micro-Devices) processors are economical and they use less battery power than Intel. Intel processors on the other hand, pack a bigger punch and have a slightly bigger FSB (Front Side Bus) than AMD. AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 is equivalent to the Intel Core 2 Duo E4000 (approximate) My opinion: if you want max battery life, go with AMD; if you want power, go with Intel

First off, your processor is already powerful enough to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. All you need is another 512 MB of memory and it will scream. Also, your graphics card is a bit dated now. That and the RAM might be your real roadblock. See if you can up the RAM to 2 gigabytes worth. You can use Crucial's system scan to see how much your machine can go up to (see link below).

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

U'd better upgrade your memony rather than the CPU, your CPU is fast enough to run this kind of games your want.
