Start wearing pantie liners every day, the if it happens it wont be too bad. Have some proper sanitary protection with you too. If it makes you feel better about the possibility of it happening you could also carry spare panties too

Calm down, girl! I know it seems like it would be the end of the world if you started at school, but in a couple of years, it's nothing!
Most girls will spot first, therefore it won't be as dramatic. The hard part is admitting that you started. That was my problem...I spotted, and then called my mom. Changed, and then spotted (a lot) again, and realized I had started. BOOO HOOO! I did want to, because I wasn't ready. The whole time before I was tired, and had an upset stomach (turned out to be cramps).
You just want to watch for those signs. Don't wait for it, but just if you happen to notice the signs, then that is the time to start protecting yourself. You will be just fine!

I remember I was about 11 1/2 when I got my period. I was sitting in the auditorium watching a school play and my was experiencing horrific pain in my lower abdomen. When I got home I saw that I was bleeding and I freaked out. The point is you just can't plan it. Just have a tampon or two stashed in your book bag just in case. Also keep a sweater at school just in case it comes and you want to wrap the sweater around your waist. You'll be fine then.

As in the first time you get it? You know what, it's not as scary as you think it is. You'll feel it when it comes and you just go to the bathroom to check. If you think you're going to get it sometime soon just keep some pads in your school bag that way you're always prepared. I got mine at school the first time too and i was getting changed after P.E i freaked out but really.. it was no biggie, someone had a pad for me and no one but me and that girl knew. NO WORRIES!!!

Well, first - how old are you? Are you experiencing puberty symptoms (breast and hair growth, acne, other body changes?). These are usually good indicators that your period will be coming around soon...
As harsh as one previous answer was, you may want to start wearing light panty liners if you are really nervous about starting 'unawares' - and make sure you keep back-up protection in your purse at all times.

If you start to feel cramping in your stomach area start to wear a pad as it might be coming.
Don't be scared about it everyday. It will not be a rush of blood at first just a little staining and you will feel a wetness. But always carry arounds pads as when they do come you will be ready.

Don't worry - it is a common misbelief among teenagers that you'll start spraying blood like a fountain. Your period will start gently and slowly, and you'll probably feel it coming - there can be cramps, headache, overall weakness and many other signals. If you're really worried about it, wear a panty liner - personally, I don't like them very much, but if they are necessary, then so be it.

If it happens in school go to the nurse and get a pad. The first time you get it, its never heavy enough to actually leak through a pair of jeans.
