I really want to write, but I'm not so sure what I should make my major. Journalism for the experience, english for more practice... or something else. And I don't know what college would be the best in these departments.

There is a website that is called "America's Top Colleges". You can go there and click on a major. It will pull up the best colleges for that particular major. I would suggest that you talk to your guidance counselor. Just off the top of my head, I'd say Journalism with an English minor. Good luck to you.

Depends, do you want to write books/novels, or articles, or research papers, or a combination? I'd probably suggest Journalism for a more practical education in actual writing... English majors tend to be more about really understanding what you READ than what you WRITE. Both are helpful, though, and you can always take a few classes in whichever one you don't pick.
You can also get a lot of hands-on experience by joining the staff of the college newspaper or literary magazine.

I suggest a journalism major and an English or English Literature minor or double major. As far as the college, I suggest you determine what you can afford, apply at several and hope you get accepted into one of your favorites. The links below refer primarily to graduate degrees. One could assume if the graduate school is ranked high, then it is likely that the undergraduate education is good as well.

Definitely English and I'd go with a minor in Creative Writing. Still, you would be among a VERY small number of people who made a living right off the bat with writing as well as being exceedingly lucky.

Choose something that is marketable and minor in either English or Creative Writing. That way, you can work and write at the same time.

Communications or Public Relations. Public Relations jobs pay a whole lot more than do journalism jobs. Another possible avenue is Advertising, but not for a bachelors degree. I'd go for Advertising for a masters degree.

I would say English or look for a school with creative writing... journalism is awesome, but sort of a different kind of writing than novels/more creative stuff.
