Sure, why not? It's not pornographic or anything. Sure, it is a little provocative, but he's going to find out about the stuff anyways.

Now, to be fair, I wouldn't go out of my way to be the enabler for this whole thing. In other words, I wouldn't go buy the magazine for him of my own volition, but if my son a) expressed interest in it b) or already had one, I think I'd condone it.

As one of the above people said, he may have seen worse already, and there will surely be kids at school either showing him worse or talking about things that are much more graphic. It's absolutely inevitable. I'd take it into my own hands and control the situation at home. If your son wants to look at the magazine, you might be able to use it as an easy, less awkward segue into "the talk."

Depends on your views on pornography (face it this is soft core porn).

So on a parent scale it is probably better than playing violent video games, or using drugs but worse than playing chess.

The swim suit issue is objectifying women and teaching men to look at only the physical attributes of a person. This is probably not an object lesson that a parent would like to instill in their offspring; unless your name is Paris or Lindsey or something.

Why Not? What's he gonna see that he doesn't see on TV or at the beach. Let's face it. We live in a sexually oriented society and it's everywhere. I'm not saying that that's good, just that that's the way things are. If you could protect your son from all media sources, that would be great, but I'm sorry to say, life just ain't that way in the USA.

That story on the link is sick. I can't believe some people would allow their child to do such things. He's turning into a complete sicko with no respect for women.

i would much rather have a thirteen year old see pictures of scantily clad ladies than R rating levels of violence on television every day, although i would probably tell him that he could only read the sports illustrated swimsuit issue as long as he read the non swimsuit issues of sports illustrated.

My son barged into the bathroom, snatched the magazine from my hands, and then walked out with the door wide open. He's only 9. But he knows what he likes. And I have to respect him for that.

My 14 year old son has a subscription to Playboy. I'd rather him look at naked bodies than watch those horrid movies where deranged psychos dismember people with chainsaws and such. A little titty never hurt nobody.

One the place they run the Moos in a Pin and the Chopper flies over and she or he hangs out the door and blasts Moose after Moose.

Sure, why not? It's normal for 13 year old boys to want to see beautiful women's bodies. Just be glad he isn't asking to look at something like fireMEN or policeMEN in swimsuits.

No. Does it provide any educational basis what so ever? No.

Furthermore, I think that giving a 13yr old a magazine with hetero-sexual overtones is a general idea. I don't think it's appropriate to condition children with gender-specific roles. I mean, what if he's gay?
