forgive me if some things have already come out but i'm just watching the second series of Battlestar galactica for the first time ( i'm up to episode9 ) In the opening credits, whch i think is from the mini series pilot, you see the explosion shock wave tking out the windows of his house as he cowers behind number 6. Wouldn't it therefore make sense that he's a cylon, and the baltar taken to galactica is another copy. He sees a cylon in his head, who also seems to know more about things than if she were just a figment of his imagination, and he also was responsible for helping shut down the defense network of the colonies. Maybe he's a cylon who doesn't know he is.

looking at barrytabrah's answer, i am even more confused, as it is an excellent point . It's just that he looks certain to die when the shock wave hits.

There is one argument I can think of why Baltar is not a cylon. The cylons sent one of their own to seduce Baltar and thus gain access to Earth's defences. If Baltar were a cylon then such a move would have been unnecessary.

If you ever see the original bsg baltar becomes the leader of the cylons so maybe he is one of the last five that we haven't seen yet.

There are supposed to be five cylons "which they don't talk about," so he could be one of those.
However my theory is that eventually they will find a prehistoric Earth, the survivors will be killed by the cylons, and earth will be colonised by the flesh and blood cylons, I think!!
