All of the above, Belief needs only that, it does not need a name. I often talk to all manors of religious people, and usually end up on the same page, it is when you try to put reason to something as profound as belief in a being that can at will create life, and destroy it, that things start getting out of hand. Believe and ask not for religion, but know what is right, and what is wrong.

I actually cried myself to sleep on this subject last night! My father is an atheist and my mother is a Muslim so I was born into my religion Islam.
When I was small, should any religious talk about God rise, my dad could never help asking 'Who Created God'. And I had always told him that just because he did not share our opinions it did not mean that he needed to question them either.
And up until the age of 13, I had never really looked upon God as anything else apart from the 'creator' and ourselves being his creation. But now I am starting to think other things about the whole 'God Concept'.
I still believe in a creator, but I want to know who created this creator? How did the universe come into existence? All the crap that scientists give out about the Big Bang to me is just nonsense. I want to know what was here before the Big Bang. Apparently, there was 'nothing'. So how did 'nothing' come into existence? There was something before 'nothing' and how did that come into existance?Everything comes from something...even scientists admit that.
I know that there was definately something before God. I just do not know what exactly.
More to the point of your question...I was born into my religion however later on in my life had a choice to worship him. And I continued to worship God because I believe he exists. I have always gone to him for help and comfort and relaxation. I have asked him for help and he has given it,perhaps a coincidence?
At the moment I do not worship a particular 'God'. Just the creator. I am not sure if the muslims are right or the christians or the jews or hindus or buddists etc...however my choice to worship God is solely based on the fact that I believe a creator exists and I worship him because it gives me a good feeling and a sense of reasurrance.
I have doubts about the whole worship thing and am scared about my view on God. What if I am wrong and have wasted at leat 10% of my life on something that was never really there. But something tells me that even if I am worng...at least something that I believed was right gave me so much comfort and happiness.
I have a belief that mankind created religion...but I believe in a creator.

actually, to contradict what shannow58 said is that there is archaeolgical proof that Eden did in fact exist. i'm a Christian and i have explored many other religions. i have a friend who can't decide between being Atheist, Agnostic and Satinst. yet i still love her. i have talked to demons i have personal experience that i can find no other explaination for in any book or Bible except in Christianity and Satan. i have seen and been through too much not to believe. how else do u explain my bffe not remembering most of last year during the time that she was possessed. i just don't see how u can not believe. but then i am a questioner by nature. this is just my opinion and i hope i didn't offend any one.

There is no god .
Man invented god because in his arrogance he must see himself as different/better than the other animals .
People can and do worship entities who they call god but its just an invention .
At the moment Christianity and Islam are the most used but that only because they have had the best indoctrination methods .
If you just think about it for a few minutes divorced from your fantasy you would see that there is no way you can prove anything about god .
You are told ...." you must have faith " ..........which is just another way of saying you must believe something beyond belief .

God doesn't care what we call him or how we worship him, as long as we following the laws of nature. Religion was created by man not god.
