because those things are so dear to us that we are afraid that somebody might say something about it, and even a little comment on it would really really hurt

Some of them, like aluminum, are hard to say because of the sound pairings in the word. The phonetics are unusual for a particular language.
Others, such as ÎιαÏί είναι μεÏικά ÏÏάγμαÏα ÏÏÏο δÏÏκολο να ειÏÏθοÏν; are hard to say because we just don't know the language.
Some things can also be hard to say because we lack the intestinal fortitude to come out and say what is on our mind.
For instance, I have been searching for a way to tell you that this is a really wide-open question, and I think it is really silly to ask it in such a way.
I just can't seem to find a polite way to tell you that though.

What things? I love you? I hate you?
there are so many things that are so hard to say. I find them hard because they are so tied up with emotion...they leave me so open to hurt...maybe thats why others have this problem?
I always strive to tell the truth...not the truth as I see it...unless you ask for my opinion that is (grin)...but the truth. Sometimes I find I have to put a gloss on it, so it will be less hurtful.

some times comments or telling people you care about them is hard to say for people including me because you normally think what they would think of you, a loser? well to all people reading this it doesnt matter. sometimes it makes the persons day better. and whats is better than making someone feel nice? (rather than a million dollars)

Well, the hardest things in life to say are things that describe our deepest and truest emotions. We are either afraid of hurting someone or being hurt ourselves.

EGO... the more self conscious you are, the harder it becomes to speak honestly and unafraid. When you learn that there is no self, only an accumulation of mental and physical factors conventionally called self, then sincere speech flows naturally.

Because you just don't want to be the person who says something, and it comes out all wrong. Plus you just don't want to hurt someones feelings. You never know how they will react. Or how it will effect you and them in the future.

two of the most beautiful phrases that i really find difficult to say are "i love you" and "i'm sorry". they're difficult because when i say them, i mean them. and it's sharing a part of me to another human being trusting them to take care of it. trust. that's the key. it's difficult because of trust.
and you can continue talking about this from the day we are born and our separation from a very close human contact to something that is so cold...and all the psychology that goes with it. but basically that's what its about. IMO.
