There is so much terminology in football and it changes rapidly. Get the book An Idiot's Guide to Football or Football for Dummies and read. Watch a lot of football (college and pro) to help build a great vocab. TV and Radio sport shows help a lot as well.

fumble: dropping your beer on the floor before you open it.
running back: when you run back to the fridge to get another beer before the comercial is over.
line backer: the row of beers in the back of the fridge where your buddies wont find them.
interception: when your buddy FINDS the row of beers in the back of the fridge, when you told him you were out.
i could go on but i think you get the picture...
