Every fund company has its better and worse funds, and I don't know that any one truly stands out in that respect. I have an affinity to Oppenheimer and American, primarily because of how they have treated my clients.

Yeah, Dodge & Cox has great funds. Most of the small mutual fund families that are good have closed their funds. I like the value manager Longleaf Partners. www.longleafpartners.com Unfortunately, they closed their Small-Cap fund a few years ago.

Putnam is Not a "small mutual fund family" and since they have "asset creep" and have cheated, they are far from "best." I like Stratton. They have a nice large cap value, small cap value and a REIT fund.
