What's a good, cheap guitar (within $200) to learn with? I've never tried to play any instruments, so I don't know what to do. At all.

I found an Epiphone Les Paul Special kit with an amp, tuner, etc. on giutarcenter.com that looked pretty good. I think I'll get that.

i recommend getting an Ibanez gsa60, or an epiphone sg300. Those are really safe guitars...very good companies. or a yamaha pacifica. just go to guitar center and try out everything you like, even the high end guitars.

avoid bc rich, esp, dean low end guitars.

First off Congratulations on wanting to learn guitar. I would recommend going to Wal-Mart or if u have one near u Sam Goodys and buying a guitar there. I would recommend an acoustic. It will help u build ur finger dexterity. I would pratice learning the major scale and the basic open chords such as C chord. I would also recommend going online and finding free online guitar lessons. Also if u have a favorite song try to find the tabs for it and learn it thats what I did. Again Good Luck if u need any tips on playing feel free to email me at YenkoChevelle_69@yahoo.com. Good Luck!!

Try a pawn shop or used music store, I think even Walmart has a begginer guitar for cheap $100 plus some accessories. Grab a beginners guide/book or look up intro guitar lessons on the web. Once and if you decide you like the instrument and praticed enough, you will then be able to decide if you want a better guitar. (there are plenty of sites on the web, dedicated to guitars and pros and cons of them) Best of luck and have fun with it.

I have a Fender Squire acoustic guitar that i bought as a package at GUITAR CENTER. The package came with picks, books, case, tuning pipe, and guitar. It cost around $200.

I would recommend the SQUIER version of the more-expensive Fender TELECASTER CUSTOM . I know it comes in black, and maybe one or two other colors . This SQUIER seems to be built better than the other Squiers, and it has THIN FRETS , which are easier to press than those JUMBO FRETS It also has one single-coil & one Humbucker Pick-Up, a combination which will give you a wide variety of tones . It is arount that price , too.
