There are 25.4 mm per inch and 39.37 inches per meter. The awkward fractions of an inch are (fortunately) becoming extinct. Aside from the building trades, nobody uses fractional inches anymore. American industry uses decimal inches, but even that is on its way out as we slowly convert to the metric system.
Here's how to convert fractional inches to decimal millimeters:
(You'll need a calculator or pencil and paper.)
1.) Divide the numerator by the denominator to convert the fraction into a decimal value. For example, 13/16=0.8125.
2.)Multiply the number of millimeters in one inch (25.4mm/inch) by the decimal value from step 1 above.
25.4(0.8125) = 20.6375
3.) Thus, there are 20.6375 millimeters in 13/16 of an inch.

Inches are a measure of length, square inches are a measure of area. You need two sets of inches to define area, like length times width. So if you have an object that is 5 inches long and 7 inches wide, then its area is 35 square inches. 1 square inch = 6.4516 square centimeters So you can either convert to cm first (1 inch = 2.54 cm) and then multiply length times width, or you can use the factor above to figure square centimeters.

A foot is to a good approximation 30 cm.
You can work the rest out from there.
Fractions of an inch are called whatever fraction they are, eg half-inch, quarter inch, tenth of an inch. A thousandth of an inch is called a thou in the UK and a mil in the USA. A mil is also a unit of angle (1/6400 of a circle) used by the military, and lazy engineers (i.e. all engineers) often abbreviate millimetre to mil when speaking.

Inches are divided into fractions - Typically halfs, quarters, eights and sixteenths of an inch on most rulers.
I have a steel engineering ruler that not only has 32nds and 64ths of an inch, but the very unusual 10ths, 20ths, 25ths, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths, 80ths and 100ths of an inch.
Micrometers typically measure to 1000ths of an inch.
There are no special names for parts of an inch, they are just come in fractions!
1 Inch = 2.54 cm (EXACTLY) = 25.4mm
1/2 Inch = 12.7mm
1/4 Inch = 6.35mm (often rounded UP to 6.5mm)
1/8 Inch = 3.175mm (often rounded UP to 3.2mm)
1/16 Inch = 1.5875mm (often rounded UP to 1.6mm)
1/32 Inch = 0.79375mm (often rounded UP to 0.8mm)
1/64 Inch = 0.396875mm (often rounded UP to 0.4mm)
The odd ones are:
1/10 Inch = 2.54mm (often rounded DOWN to 2.5mm)
1/20 Inch = 1.27mm (often rounded DOWN to 1.25mm)
1/25 Inch = 1.016mm (often rounded DOWN to 1mm)
1/40 Inch = 0.635mm (often rounded DOWN to 0.6mm)
1/50 Inch = 0.508mm (often rounded DOWN to 0.5mm)
1/60 Inch = 0.4233mm (often rounded DOWN to 0.4mm)
1/80 Inch = 0.3175mm (often rounded DOWN to 0.3mm)
1/100 Inch = 0.254mm (often rounded DOWN to 0.25mm)
Hope this helps a bit!

1 Inch = 2.54 Cm
1 Cm = 10 mm so 1 Inch which is 2.54 Cm = (10*2.54)/1 = 25.1 mm and as I know the fraction of an Inch could be mm
and you can have the decimal of an inch too .

2 x 1/2 inches; 4 x 1/4 inches; 8 x 1/8 inches; 16 x 1/16 inches ...... up to 1/1,000,000 th of an inch and smaller.
1/2" = 12.7 mm; 1/4" = 6.35 mm; 1/8" = 3.175 mm; 1/16" = 1.5875 mm ... 1/1,000,000" = 0.0000254 mm
