It can be as big as you want it to be only two rules it has to be three deminisional and it has to be creative.

Great project. This could be done with either a physical model or with a virtual model. The physical model is bulky but is less complex to make. The virtual model is not bulky at all. It would be a computer generated model and therefore could be quite sophisticated. To make a physical model would require some machine work. I would think something like a lucite torus shaped object perhaps with a 3 - 4 foot base and a 2- 3 foot top. The cylindrical tube connecting the top and bottom would represent the eye of the storm. The lower base would represent the inflow layer and would be marked (???) to show it was cyclonic in nature while the upper top would represent the anti-cyclonic outflow layer and would be marked (???) to show the cirrus flowing out from the top of the eye wall cumulonimbus clouds. These clouds could possibly be constructed of cotton (?) or perhaps they could be painted on paper and glued the eye wall tube, or even made of paper mache (sp?).

What I would probably go for would be a computer generated model that could be displayed on a screen off of a laptop. Lots of room for creativity here such as stills? time lapse? virtual fly through? evolution? i.e. from a large convective complex morphing into a TD, into a TC, into a hurricane with an eye, vertical motions with wind vectors?. Well I think you've got the idea. This could be done from scratch (fortran or C++) or some existing meteorological code able to do this kind of thing, or some other kind of image graphics software. Hope this gives you some ideas.

i came from florida not too long ago, i was in 3 hurricans (one i was in the eye). im not sure how you would do it but, go to yahoo/google images and look up 3-d hurricans. you will probobly need a few things to make...but im sure that will help you a bit.

if it were me...i would first get a big pice of cardboard as a base...then use images from google/yahoo to get ideas
