I have 3 or 4 I alternate, or sometimes double-up on when I need comfort. One is an ultra-soft, Ty puppy dog, there's a Cabbage Patch doll that looks like a mini me, a little Snoopy in blue jeans and a red sweatshirt, and a Bobby Jack monkey. I've only recently needed these fuzzy friends since losing my mother in December. The little girl part of me needed something soft and cuddly to hold onto when hubby couldn't be there.

Since getting married (11 years ago) my bedtime animals decreased from 15 (my posse) to two: my wife's octupus and my penquin. They aren't actually in the bed with us, they watch over us from the headboard.
As for the others (my wife and I both brought an army of stuffed animals into the relationship) we have selflessly passed them on to the children in our lives. It was hard, but they are no less loved then before.

Zero! I'm one of those strange females that don't really like stuffed animals. I only keep them b/c someone thought to give them to me. And even then, I keep them in my neice's room so I don't have to look at them.

when I was a kid about 20 because I did not want to leave anyone out. I thought they had feelings. Now I just sleep with my hubby and kitty!
