There has been over 300 cases in 39 states of salmonella poisoning from Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter. People have been getting sick since August of 2006. Why are they just now telling us about it? Shouldn't they be telling us this a lot sooner?

Perhaps because 300 cases out of hundreds of thousands of jars, maybe millions, isn't quite enough statistically to connect the dots until this much time has gone by and all the reports compared and analyzed.

YES I DO AGREE with you but i didn't know that i just heard about it on the news today why would they wait for so many cases before they ell the public and start pulling them off the shelves in the grocery stores?? Do they want someone to die first? That's really a shame I'm now wondering the same thing, THANKS

No, I don't think so.

I would prefer to have government agencies notify the companies themselves in enforcing appropriate recalls of the product based on the facts.

Public panics don't solve anything and always result in overreaction.

(The press doesn't help by intentionally exaggerating the facts and amplifying the pandemonium.)

because of GREED. If everyone knows they stop buying the product and the corporation looses lots-o-money and their stocks go down. They would rather have sick people than angry greedy money hungry people. Don't we just love Corporate America!

Yes, it's a good one. I found a jar with the numbers on it in my pantry, though. So I guess I will be throwing it out.
