Apply. Now, it's one thing if you had cancer, and it was treated -- e.g., breast cancer and the lump was removed, or, prostate cancer and the prostate was removed -- and you are healthy and have a full time job now vs. you have cancer, you are receiving radiation therapy to the point of your hair falling out, and you have a 2% chance of survival. Use common sense. The worst thing they can tell you is "no".

It doesn't automatically make you eligible. You have to fill out an SSI application through your local Social Security Administration. Sometimes, even then, it can take awhile to get. I was just approved for SSI in NC for my heart condition, and it took us four years to get it.

But, you can probably get health insurance right away, if you apply for it.

It doesn't make you "Automatically" eligible, but it is definitely possible to recieve it because of cancer. I have a friend who recieves it because of Prostate cancer, and he's not dishonest either, I'd disregard that comment above.
