We collectively threw the Republicans out of congress in November, I can't think of a more impressive united contribution then that! Up until that happened, I would have totally agreed with you!

" Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. " (John F. Kennedy)
The statement is still very much valid today. Now ask it of our elected officials, from the local level all the way to the top levels of govornment (Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court), and see how many empty words and hollow promises are returned. I am no loafing whiner - I've done my term of service, Uncle Sam and the state I reside in skim thier taxes from my paychecks and I pursue happiness as best I can. I caution you against such accusations as what you made above.

I completely agree that this statement should be valid today. I feel America has degenerated into a bunch of selfish libertarians, who think it doesn't matter if society falls apart as long as they are wealthy and protected in their gated communities.

It should be, but it's not. For example, in an interview Bush was asked whether the American people should be asked to sacrifice more for this War--if it's so important--and he said the fact that we're worried about it is sacrifice enough. That's NOTHING compared to how, during WW2, there was rationing and bond drives and Americans taking in British orphans.
Now that Bush has agreed for the USA to take in 7000 Iraqi refugees (yay! hey, it's a start), I wonder if he'll even *think* to ask the American people to make room in their homes for some of these people, instead of just slapping together some kind of refugee centers?

Why are you not concerned with all the illegals in our country basically we are under invasion from Mexico. I think there are more than enough things here at home to worry about than who you fantasize to be sitting around disgracing your point of view of the world. The Bush administration is spending your money much more quickly on their agenda, who's that benefiting? I'm much more concerned we might very well be heading into Iran.
