i ordered from BMG once in early 2006 and i paid them full, then i stoped ordering from them, but a few weeks a go they send me a CD that i didnt ask for, todayi get a letter from them saying i need to pay them 2.79 for the cd, so back to my question can they make me pay for a cd i didnt ask for, or want??

You need to either return the CD or pay them the cost for it. If you want to stop receiving CDs that you don't ask for, you need to make sure to cancel your BMG account. Usually you have to cancel accounts over the phone or by mail.

As long as you return the CD in a "reasonable" amount of time and unopened, they shouldn't charge you any fees for it. However, if you take too long or if you have opened the CD, they may charge you a restocking fee, or some other fees. You'll need to check your contract agreement to be sure on the fee details.

Yes, they can do that. I spent a summer as a temp for BMG's "Customer Service" line and we had TONS of people complain about this.

Just return the CD and tell them to cancel the membership and it should take care of it.

BMG does this because if someone thinks it is too much work to return, they will just pay the bill. So thousands of people give up their $2.79 and it makes them a ton of money.

Ha, thats the catch in the small print... cancel your membership.
