Wow, small list of responders, but I liked the rational viewpoints expressed by the first two and the questioner. How refreshing that not everyone on Yahoo! thinks in terms of extremes even when they clearly have differences in ideology!!!
I want to applaud con woman for saying she supports the president, even while she clearly doesn't agree with his handling of the duties.
And I want to give kudos to Articchi for not being a Kool-aide drinker for the guy, even when she clearly is a conservative.
So many posters on here say such irrational hateful things about Bush that I find myself defending someone who has often disappointed me, so thanks Chi Guy (this comes from a Cardinals fan of all people) for giving me an opportunity not to feel that I have to debunk the common liberal spew of misinformation! Yes, Bush spends way too much in my opinion. Whether he feels that he is "reaching across the aisle" in a bi-partisan way, or he is just a caver, or he is actually a liberal Republican, I don't know. Sometimes, it has had the effect of painting his detractors into a corner, which is fun, but not at the expense of my tax dollars!
Sad thing is that the front runners for the GOP seem to be more of the same. Gingrich is an exception, but too much mud to sling on him. And Huckabee talks a good small government talk, but who has heard of him? So I will probably end up voting for the least objectionable candidate once again (McCain, Romney, Gulianni?) and, if they get in, will probably end up having to defend them when the inevitable baseless criticism comes once again. Part of me actually wants my side to lose sometimes. Then I can take the high-road like con woman.

Well, he certainly does't spend like a conservative!!
Actually, I really don't think Bush gives conservatives a bad name - I'm much more ashamed of some of the bottom-feeding conservatives we see on YA - THEY definiately give true conservatives a bad name!!

Yes. Bush isn't a conservative. He's a neoconservative. That's a social conservative with liberal fiscal control. Classic conservatism and classic liberalism have been totally obscured by neocons and neolibs.
When there are liberals calling themselves conservatives and conservatives calling themslves liberals, it's just too confusing for the electorate anymore.
