i posted the question earlier about an adapter but the adapter cost almost as much as the cable does so no point in buying an adapter.

if i were to take 2 cables and take the lining off and make it as one, should i expect data loss?

No data will be lost, but things could be very, very slow. If you have a shoddy connection, TCP will keep trying to resend data until it gets a confirmation that it was received. Obviously no new data will we transmitted until the older data gets through successfully.

Splicing cables is never a good idea. Even if the connection is ok, you'll have disturbed the small twists in each wire, which is important in reducing crosstalk (interference).

Splicing a data cable never works well. If you're trying to make two short cables into a long one, get a female/female adapter. Costs about a dollar and you have no splicing issues.

If you're trying to splice two cables into one (like a "Y") it won't work. At best, only one of the connections would function. And it would be slow, intermittent and unreliable. It's not analog (like a phone line) that can handle data loss and carry info down both paths at once. I
