Unfortunately, we are forced into this responsibility.
We pretty much allowed the terrorists to slaughter thousands of innocent people with impunity with no real effective response forth coming. This inaction on our part finally culminated in the events of 9/11.
Domestic policies are important, but they will be moot if we don't first have security.
