I recently got a Mac to use for work. There was just one problem, the whole computer is in Spanish! (It was purchased in Mexico.) Is there any way I can change this? I'm a PC girl so changing to a Mac will be hard enough...but changing to a Mac in Spanish? Yikes! Can anyone help?

It depends on the version of the operating system. If it is OS 9.whatever or older, you should look at the top menu bar of the Finder for a small flag icon. It may be the Mexican flag. If it is there, click on it and look for a drop list with a USA flag. If there is no flag icon in the menu bar, you must install the English language kit. That would be an option on the Mac OS CD that was sold with the computer. If you didn't get the original CD, you must find one.

If it has OS X, the language choice is part of the default operating system installation. Unless someone reinstalled the system and chose a custom install, the English option is there. Get someone who speaks Spanish to help you or just make a few careful guesses of where to click. Open System Preferences (icon is usually in the Dock and looks like a light switch wall plate with an apple logo). Then click on the International icon (looks like the U.N. flag). Now you will have 3 tabs: Language, Format and Input Menu (wording is different for 10.2). In the Language tab, click-hold and drag English to the top of the list. In the Input Menu tab, put a check for the U.S. flag. You can uncheck the Spanish flag if you wish. If you want to keep the Spanish input option, you migh want to also put a check in the "Show input menu in menu bar" space, also.

Now logout and login. That should change things to English unless you kept the Spanish option. If so, click on the flag at the top menu bar and choose what you want.

Try preferences under languages or International i think it's a flag icon. Doesn't matter what OS disk that you use...I have used a spanish OSX disk and was able to see all in english.

In Mexico, people talk Spanish. It is normal. Buy a Mac OS X disc in the U.S or somewhere else. Install it over your Spainsh version.
