I thin that you dont see the cut so your brain doesnt know it, so it doesnt recieve the signal from the Pain receptors until you see the cut..... when you see the cut you Immediatley know that you have been damaged, so you would normally think of Pain related with damage and thats why you feel the pain... Hope I aint confused you:)

You could still feel pain from the cut even though you dont see it, you probably wont notice it as much and recognize it as a cut. You dont have to visually see an injured area for it to hurt. What about the back of your head?

I know I've cut myself as soon as it happens. Between the pain and the blood I'm pretty much aware that it's happened.
