We did not always do that, it was based on credibility no matter how much money, they had to be an upstanding citizen and a hard worker! Very few lawyers for sure! Jefferson, and Franklin and Washington felt a lawyer was not a good candidate for President for they being schooled in the law would be more apt to try and change the laws with the loop holes they find when they get bored? ha ha Not really, they felt that the laws were already made and there was no need to doctor them up anymore! Like we have noticed with the Lawyers that doctored up that Patriot Act! True Bush could not get into law school at Yale no matter how much pull his Dad had! His grade point average was 2.75? Duh? Dubya! The Rich boy got lost with the Skulls and Cross Bones eh? Drunk and Drugs and could not make the grade? So what did he do? He became a Salesman, with many failed ventures! He lost more money than 1000 people in a rich group not filthy rich but just rich than they made in a lifetime! millions he lost! Before he took office he had to give back all those elderly citizens money in Texas that invested in another Scam organization that he held with that Arab bunch! And they questioned him on this" Did those people want their money back for that mall you were building because they didn't trust you?" His reply , " oh no, it just didn't work out? " Duh? No he lost the money and his fathers buddy and one of his Arab room mates in College, paid the debt for him! So here is the problem he drained the US mint to pay the debts off that he and his clan owe towards the New World Order Program! It isn't the rich so much, as to who the person is? JFK was rich but he was a war hero and would literally die for this country and the people in it! He was a true Patriot! And I literally hate the Republicans or Democrats that fail to give that man respect! He did nothing wrong to this country he improved it and his son would have been even better, but he is dead right? hmmmm? And he was rich, but he had a heart for people and had confidence in himself and did not surround himself with a bunch of terrorists with third world ways to get rich! Bush made their money off the government, starting with the Grandfather as Senator, and then george Sr. military , then CIA, then VP, Then President? hmmm? They think that we owe them a living? How can we be upset over a Welfare recipient when we pay a career criminal all that money to sit in a job to take over our freedom and overthrow our government? And we are suppose to follow his son? A loser?
A Grass Roots president would be great, if he is a hard worker and truly is not looking for a get rich scam, and manipulate the people! Loyalty is the thing we need in our President we need someone who is willing to die for this country! Like Washington, Jackson, teddy roosevelt, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Paul Revere, thomas Paine, and JFK, and too bad about John junior? Just like Princess Diana? eh?

I can offer you a very pithy answer to your question: There is no such thing as a poor presidential candidate (careful, wealth/economic status is also relative!). This is particularly so in countries with large geographies and demographics, such as the United States, because running a successful presidential campaign costs a lot of money. Money makes the world go round...

Who are you saying we should vote for?
It seems every choice we ever have is someone with money!
I would love to vote for someone who isn't rich and has an idea of what the real Americans want. Not the elite who are so out of touch with us, but I don't see anyone like that do you?

Most politicians are rich, depending on your definition of rich. Kerry's wife was the Heinz multi-billionaire inheritant. In my district, for a congress seat, vern buchanon spent 8 million, over half was his own personal money. His opponent, Jennings, spent just under that, but I don't know how much of her own, but a lot of it. Why would anyone spend that much money while not making nearly close to that amount on a federal payroll, kickbacks and corruption, for some reason, no one understands that....oh well...

Um - only rich people can afford to run for office.

LMAO and if you think Kerry could relate to what the lower classes need, you're really in denial.

It is only the rich who can get the name recognition. People aren't likely to vote for people they have never heard of.

Because people are brain washed into thinking that there are only two parties to choose from.

They are also brainwashed into thinking that if those that are running aren't a member of the two parties then they aren't worthy.

People are brainwashed and can not think for themselves.
