Don't tense up. The more relaxed you are as you fall the less painful it will be. If you let your knees buckle then you can fall forward or to the side easily and painlessly.

If you have to fall backwards then tuck your chin tightly against your collarbone and try to hit flat on your back. Do not put your arm behind you to break the fall or you risk breaking your collarbone. If there is a rug on the stage as part of the dressing you can put a gym or yoga mat under it to help cushion your fall. If you throw your arm out to slam the ground as you impact then it will not only make a nice bang but it will also spread out the force of the impact further. (I learned that in judo class). You can also throw your arm to the side if you fall sideways (the idea is that your back/side and arm hit all at the same time)

Try not to land on your butt. It will hurt and you run the risk of shatterting your coccyx.

This is a tough one....you have to try a few out for yourself. I've done several methods but prat falls are different than dramatic falls.
When I did Evita, and did the scene where she collapses, I literally just let go of my body. It looked 'dramatic' from because of the impact but I got far less bruised than when I tried to control it.
I hope this helps. What are you working on?

Well you do it in 4 easy steps and it looks quite good and you can adapt it so :
1) standing upright
2)go down on to your knees
3)sit to the side on you bum with your legs tucked under
4)flop your upper body on to the floor

the faster you do it the more realistic it looks its always gonna hurt a bit but you can barely feel this one however be very careful when practising on carpet as friction burns are v.painful lol
hope i helped and remeber practise makes perfect!!!

push your teacher down the stairs - when your teacher reaches the bottom - loudly speak " class dismissed"
