Are we actually so sad that we are charmed by apparent drug addicts whose brain function is so impaired that their inability to speak normally has assumed some sort of social value?

I love stand up...I have been a fan for 40 years...I have an active sense of humour...but this is no Emo Philips...this is chemically dumbed down!....????

I'm afraid that it is your imagination. Comedy has evolved somewhat from the days of Morecombe and Wise and has to accomodate a younger, gearish, more self aware audience. While on the point you raise that he is drug obsessed, I do agree. But the fluffy family entertainment days are not seen as cool. There is a place for it. But NOT at an awards show that is now accomdating people that are seen to be rebels and drug takers. Russell is the comedy equivalent of Rock n Roll.

I hope this helps

I used to loathe him. Then one day I happened to catch an episode of Big Brother's Big Mouth and I actually suddenly 'got' his comedy.

I think he's an acquired taste but to be honest I admire him for getting clean and being brutally honest about his drug addictions. I don't think he's the funniest man ever but he does do some good putdowns at opportune moments!

He is intelligent and he has a clean and healthy lifestyle (minus the womanising). He has a career because he is sexy and different, although the toilet humour does grate after a while. I don't like his TV show, but I thought he was good on The Brits.

Yes, he is a self obsessed fool. Alan Carr is 10x funnier.

Nothing wrong with your imagination, he is the most untalented unfunny foul mouthed cretin to appear on t.v. in a very long time

I think he's a right knob. Oh how I would have laughed if Rod Stewart had given him a televised public hiding over his claims about giving Rod's daughter one.
