It does not look bad at all. If I were you I would just include a note stating that you had to withdraw and that you will be retaking the class. As long as the rest of your grades on your transcript are good then it doesn't really matter.

Out of the 40 or so courses you'd have taken and passed to graduate, I'd say 4 or 5 W's aren't bad. Any more and your perseverance and good judgment might become an issue.

I took the W because the class was so hard, but it didn't effect me anyway. Employers are only looking for experience. Why you think there are so many people looking for work if they want to see your grades?

In the real world, nobody looks at your college transcript.
All employers want to know is:
Did this cat graduate, and does he/she have the skill sets I need.

One or two Ws won't look bad. If it continues, though, it can be looked at as instability and lack of perseverance.
