Good point..!!.. i bet there are quite a few folks in here with that same situation.
You have just given me an in-site i would otherwise not have considered..
For that i thank you.
You have also inadvertently explained to me why some folks 'here' seem so inconsiderate, mean, callused, or rude.
You also open the way to a greater sense of safety..AND sincere participation... and...
You have shown me why some answerer's are just filling space, gathering points, irrelevant, disrespectful, hurtful, shallow, narrow minded, or useless.

It has occurred to me a lot actually and I agree with you. I try not to be recognized, as if I'm just another person in the world....I try to give my honest opinion without ACTUALLY being myself...which might not really sound "honest' to you, but I try not to be so obvious about who I am...and it works. I never give my name....and when I rarely do, I never give my last name. On the websites I go to, I have different usernames for each one.
Also, even if total stranger find out about my secrets, I don't really care because who knows how many people out there have the same secrets. I know for sure I've come across many people on the internet that I know in real life and haven't realized it. Don't think they have either.

It has crossed my mind but I don't worry because anything I say on here, I'd say to someone's face. Most of the people I know, already know I'm a bit of a loose cannon, and that I don't recognise any taboos. So I find that being yourself in reality and in virtual reality is the best policy.

Hey! That's the whole point of it. It's designed to release you from the constraints that normally tie you to your name, and how you present yourself to the world outside Y!A
Overall it's not risky, it depends on who you are, what the question is like and and what your honest opinion is. if you're Hitler then you're gonna get mobbed.
I don't say or do anything particularly risque here, and I only pop in occasionally but i'd hate to have my privacy taken away. That's the whole joy of it all. You can say pretty much anything you want
especially if you're prepared to get reprimanded for it!
I'm totally with you there. I wouldn't even tell anyone I come on here 'cos I know they'd ask questions!

Even here, I do not tell my most intimate secrets. However, I still give honest opinions. Frankly, if someone I knew read every answer I had given, and every question I had asked, I don't think they would learn anything that would give them a negative opinion of me. By the way, this is answer 1,637 for me.

I'm not so worried about that as some of the questions people ask. Some seem so trite and could more easily be looked up on a search engine. Others are so personal that I worry that they are taking a bunch of layperson stranger's advise (relationships, abortion, surgery) and acting upon it. But no, most of my friends know how opinionated I am and would probably not be surprised ha ha ha...

risky yes lots of the times asking questions, but sometimes to answer a question people must know a bit about you all to give that honest answer. and what else would you expect a lie.
you can answer without to much detail and ask but this depends on the questions and answers.
there are closed questions and open questions closed question is when you just say no to all, open question is maybe's and thats right.

I don't tell anyone what my name is here regardless of what I say here or not. I don't think people in the Real world should be in my business of what I do here on the net.

I have just decided not ot answer two questions because it would make me too identifiable. I wouldn't want the world to know the real me. I would be too vulnerable. Sad world
