A Very Long Engagement, The Science of Sleep, Motorcycle Diaries, Life is Beautiful... just to name a few. Also, the movie The Red Violin is really good, but I'm not sure if it's foriegn, the actors do speak like 5 different languages throughout the movie... either way you should watch it if you haven't.

"To Live" is an outstanding film about a family in pre-Mao China and follows their time line well into the Mao Years. Even if it doesn't make your top ten...you should enrich your life by seeing it. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon holds significance because it was one of the first movies I saw it in China.
