1. it probably won't turn on - but if I were you I'd try and dry it out for a few days before trying.

2. water damage is NOT covered by warranty - and warranty centers will KNOW if there is water damage. They have seen it all.

The ipod is a sealed unit. I don't know how to open it but if you can figure that out, disconnect the battery and leave it open on top of your computer monitor (nice gentle heat) for a few days.

BUT.. keep in mind that opening it up may void the warranty - of course running it thru the washer prob. did that anyway.

Every now and then pick it up, gently shake it, and put it down in a different position. You are trying to dislodge and evaporate all of the water and there will be pockets of it that you can not see.

Well my friend did this to her ipod mini. Add it died. It actually showed a little iPod on the screen with a sad face. Don't know how it did that because it wouldn't work anyways. Anyways, her warranty has just expired so she had to pay for a new one, but if your warranty is still valid just use that. If your songs are on the playlist on your computer, you should just be able to add them to your new ipod. Good luck!

sounds like it's time to circulate on right down to the Apple save. Apple provides you with 10% off the acquisition value of a clean iPod in case you commerce one in. and that's extremely all you're able to do with yours now. Lesson found out: digital units at the instant are not designed to get soaking moist.

The only thing is to turn it on and try it. If it does not come on or the screen is blank, than you probably need to purchase a new one. But if you try it quickly, you might get lucky and it will turn on. Also if it does turn on but does not play, try writing down as many of your song titles down, so that if you do get a new one, then you can have the same song you had on your old one

It may come on if your extremely lucky.
When I bought my iPod I payed $20 for a service plan (at Radio Shack) that replaces my iPod if it gets water damage. If you have any kind of service plan you can probably just get a brand new one.

If you have not yet turned it on after the bath, open it up and gently blow-dry the whole unit. This worked for me on a very expensive rental microphone that I took on a canoe trip. We used the can of compressed air we took for the camera

I know two people who's iPods went through the wash and still worked. Try it and see.
(PS: you might need to wait a few days before it drys out - my friends needed to)
