Sexing goldfish is not easy. Here's a site that explains it well and includes pics that might help you along.

When ready to breed, males have white tubercles on their gills.

Females have an odd vent shape, their body bumps out a little before the anal fin.

There is no other way to tell short of witnessing the female lay eggs. One gender is not bigger than the other. Neither is more round. The male does not have thicker fins.

Have you tried asking the goldfish?

No look down on the fish from the top, long and slender... a male... podgy and short looking... a female!

Or you could just look in it's underware draw!
