Politicians take little notice of the electorate after gaining power because they can more or less do as they wish for a substantial period.
Do you think any sane politician would be favouring more and more taxes.
Hospital closures.
Almost non-existent NHS dentistry.
Congestion charges.
Fortnightly refuse collections.
More and more immigration.
More and more European control over our laws. Higher and higher pay for more and more useless crooked MP's.
Ensuring that paedophiles and other slugs human rights are preserved with vast sums of money in compensation paid out to them if they are not.
Government spies peeping at you from every corner and even watching what you put in your rubbish bins.
ID cards that enable the government almost total control over where you go and what you do.
I could go on and on but does anybody think that these things would come to pass or would remain if our elected leaders had to face re-election every two years?

House of Reps has to run every two years. President every four and Senate every six. I think that's a good system.

I think the current 2-year terms are too little for House reps, and would be too short for any other elected position because it takes at least a couple of years in office to settle in, and with elections coming up the last year in office, the campaigns for re-elections take about a year in planning.

Thus, nothing would ever get done!

In the US we have elections twice every year. Primaries in the spring and general elections in November.
At the federal government level, members of the House of Representatives have always had to run for office every two years. They spend most of their efforts raising campaign money and running for re-election.
One-third of US Senators are up for election every two years.
The US President is limited to two four-year terms. And it took an ammendment to the US Constitution to put that limitation in place.
Yours is not a solution.

AAAAAhhhhh, Hello, the members of the U.S. House of Representatives are elected every two years. Senators every 6 years and the President every 4 years.

Great Idea then we would be inundated with political ads constantly with no break. Oh yeah and our politicians would spend all of their time running for office instead of governing.
The house runs every two years and it has not changed anything for them.

No , every four years is ok,but we should stop acting like a banana republic,no Prime Minister should be allowed to stay any more than two terms.look at the mess we are in.
