in building morter joint so Two bricks can be placed down at the same time ie last bricks on top of wall thank-you for haveing a go

a device with two arms hinged together so that pressure applied at the pivot point to straighten the device exerts force along the two arms. thanks

Well ... take your choice!

1. A mechanical arrangement where two members are hinged together at a central location and separately at their opposite ends. Their alignment forms an obtuse angle, causing a force applied at the common hinge to produce a lateral thrust at the end hinges directed by the original force.

2. A joint made by two arms attached by a pivot; used to apply pressure at the two ends by straightening the joint.

Is this a guessing game to see how stupid we are? O.K. I'll play. Is it a joint in which a ball bearing is used to hold the pieces together so that it can rotate? Kind of like a leg in a hip socket. I'm not in the building trade, just a mom. I could be completely wrong but that's what it sounds like to me.
