I have tried just about everything, but I still can not find the motivation to do anything that I know I should do or things I really need to do. I'm just plain lazy, but I don't want to be. Any suggestions?

You could and should feel strong motivation to do things for yourself. I believe this can happen for you if you get in touch with what's most important to you, and focus more on activities related to those needs. If you aren't sure what that is, the motivation won't kick in.

I recommend you brainstorm on a piece of paper answers to these questions...
- What's most important to you in your life?
- What's fun?
- What are you most interested in?
- What do you need most?
- What are you really good at?
- In what areas are you most experienced, smart, etc.?
- What would you like to accomplish during the next 5 years?
- If you died 10 years from now, what would you hope people would say about you, how would you want them to remember you?

This kind of self-awareness will create a clarity of mind that will help you choose activities you really care about. If you get involved in those things, I think you'll have all the energy you want.

I hope this helps...

you might be a little overwhelmed.

these things you "really need to do" ...... do you really need to do them ?

other than eating, sleeping & having shelter (so if working so can pay rent - - yes that is a "really need to do" .... or taking a shower so you can keep your job .... also a "really need to do" ) you really don't "need to do"

If your unable to complete the most simple tasks for survival..... it goes beyond just motivation.

with that being said, if it is truly a case of just being lazy...... then I would suggest becoming accountable to a friend. Share what goals you have and request that they help by keeping tabs on your progress. after that you have to find out what you like for a reward & use it upon the accomplishment of an attained goal.

so go for it ... do well..... & have some fun

Start with doing just little things, do finger push-ups for 3 minutes each day. The secret is getting into a routine and then expanding on it. Or, just get ready too buy much larger clothing.

As I heard on Oprah, sometimes you have to take action first, then get motivated by the results, instead of waiting around to get motivated before you do anything......
