First You need a loan. Whatever you figure for start up costs. double it. Plan on a loss for the first 3 to 5 years.
second. A building in an area zoned for automotive repair.
Location location location.
Do you have the clients needed to support your overhead costs. Dont for a minute think people are just going to drive right in.
Hows your credit? Hows your Health? Permits for waste oil, tires, paint, ect.. workers comp.....Payroll taxes....stress!

first off, youd want to be specialized. A shop that paints, tunes, rims, dynos, does bodywork, etc etc is just too broad. You need to pick something and get good at it. theres also just too many cars around to be able to know them all and work on them all at a high caliber. Most tuning shops focus on only a few types of cars, otherwise they just cant be as refined as they need to be.

second, youd need a place, funding, and most importantly, the KNOWHOW to do it. ASE certification is practically a must if you want to do anything decent.

its a huge and expensive endeavor. most likely you will not make money unless youre extremely good at what you do.
