It is highly unlikely that these matches will be given official ODI status, as they never have at previous tournaments.

One of the reasons for this is that quite commonly in these matches the teams will use their whole squad for the match, chooing which 11 they want to bat and then which 11 they wish to field. It is done like this to allow those of both disciplines the best chance to prepare for the tournament.
