Sweetheart, don't worry - the acne is just a hormonal thing, it will clear up over the next couple of years, and you can probably help it along by using appropriate skincare products and making a few dietary adjustments.

You don't sound stupid, you sound frustrated. In my experience all teenagers are critical because all teenagers are concerned with how they appear to each other - the fact of the matter is, if what you do doesn't harm or inconvenience anyone, you don't have to worry what they think. I recognise this feeling in you, I had it too, until quite recently actually (I'm in my late 30s) and then I saw sense and decided, feck it, I'm just going to do my thing and let the begrudgers say what they like - if they've nothing better to do then clearly they are wasting their own time and talents.

You have some extremely ambitious goals there, and it doesn't help because they look unrealistically ambitious and only serve as a stark contrast to your life now. Here's what I suggest though - don't give up on these goals. Put them on the back burner, and set yourself something you can achieve in a few months. Want to run a thousand miles? Start by working yourself up to 10 miles, and do it properly, get medical advice, talk to an athletics coach, whatever you need to do. Want to climb Everest? Find a climbing group suitable for your age and current level of fitness, get some practical experience in your home country, and learn and practice and get better.

The big picture can be daunting, and can make you feel small and inadequate. Break it down into manageable portions and you'll be surprised and pleased about what you can achieve. Great things are achieved by a methodical approach.

okay il try my best. my life isnt perfect either and i am also young (18). I never had acne, but my brother did, and i know what your talking about, he didnt wanna go out, he skiped school if he had a BIG pimple, etc;. his acne wasnt even that bad, and he is very handsome, but all he saw was tha zits. Eventually he got over it, he discovered a kinda home remedy 4 his acne, it sounds retarded, but it actually works. Proactive is a total rip-off. He started 2 work out more, he used his cockyness as his motivation 2 get a great body and became 1 of the most popular guys in school. that was 3 years ago, since then he has kinda let go of his body,(not as much muscles), and his popularity kinda faded, but he is still cool eneogh to have sleep with about a quarter of the schools girls. i didnt go into detail cause it is too long of a story, but basicly all you need is motivation, if you want something, do whatever it takes to get it

you poor thing. well firstly mind my language but **** what other people think, you do what you want to do, NO ONE is perfect and i mean no one,so you've got acne,it's probably puberty. I'm now 22,and when i was about 13 i thought id never have a boyfriend and just live to be miserable for the rest of my days, until one day i thought I'm not going to let the shallow people of this world get me down and sure enough my confidence grew,Ive been with my boyfriend 4 years now,all because i plucked up the courage to ask him on a date. I bet you've never even tried to ask anyone out on a date, and if you have and they said no, plenty more fish in the sea.sorry if I'm going on but I'm just trying to say that there's so much out there, life's to short to worry about appearances. get out there and have fun. you sound like a really nice person but if you keep on worrying about the stuff that you do you might get bitter and we don't want that do we. SO don't worry kid, believe me life will get better, just give it a chance ok. sorry to go on and on.xx

Set small goals for yourself. For instance, if you want to 'run a thousand miles', set a goal of running 10 miles. When you accomplish that, you will have an addictive feeling of accomplishment. That will lead to 20 miles, etc.... I know this is hard to understand now, at 16 yrs old, but you will eventually not care what others think, and that's the best way to be.

Being 16 is like that for most of us.

I don't remember anyone of my friends brimming with confidence, when i was that age in 1985, most of them were insecure about some aspect of their life.

you have dreams and ambitions which is a good thing in itself, many people don't dream of running 1000 miles or doing anything interesting like that.

You say you are ''so worried about what people might be saying about me and how you look''. well don't be.

some people will look at you and they may say "Oh he has a few teenage spots, but he's just a young man anyway"

And most people are so wrapped up in themselves that they won't even notice you that much or give you a second glance.

My main advice is to you, Do what you want to do to live your dreams & go out & do them and to hell with others preconceptions of you.

Get yourself and appointment with your doctor and I'm sure you will get sorted out with medication for your acne. Lots of teens go through this. My friend and her daughter both have had severe acne and both take medication and drink lots of water. Only rarely do their spots flare up now.

As for your ambitions, get out there, hold your head up high and go for it. I bet those who care about you don't even notice you have a problem. Why not ask family and friends to help you one your way.

There are special doctors called dermatologists who work with skin.
I would advise you to go see one and ask why this happens. You can also get a prescription for products that will help you.
My best friend did this and the transformation is amazing.

Apart from that, take courage knowing that it's teen hormones, and when they subside chances are your skin will mostly clear. (this happens for most people)

my brother is 14 and he suffers from sever acne, he went to the doctor who prescribed some cream, it didn't really help so now he is taking tablets for it and it seems to be working, so there are plenty of options in helping your acne. maybe if that is sorted, you will find the confidence in working towards your dreams! good luck xx
