Trac phone question about adding minutes?

I took my GF's phone to the dollar store to get a new card. I didnt know how to do it. The clerk offered to put the minutes in for me. I said sure, thanks. well ever since then my gf has to go thru a real long process to get the minutes added. Prior to my visit to the dollar store she could put the minutes in a lot faster. But now she has to call the 800 number. Her phone is asking for a code that she does not have. we tried all the numbers on the card and the receipt. we know what the PIN number is. Its aggravating her and I know I am responsible for this. HELP!
