Yes. I mean, I'm fine with gay people and I really don't care what their interests are or what they do in the bedroom, but if my favorite player was not mentally stable, would have media surrounding him game-in and game-out solely on his sexuality and not on how he played, and everyone was looking at him in a different way, he just wouldn't be my favorite player anymore because it wouldn't matter how he was playing, he would be famous because he is a homosexual.
My favorite pro player is Kirk Hinrich. Now if he held a press conference or a personal interview or something like that and came out of the closet, I'm sure not only would his reputation go down the toilet, the Bulls would as well. I'm not saying that sports skills are based on sexuality, and that only good players are straight, I'm saying everyone in that locker room would take this hard and the team wouldn't play as effectively or in sink with each other.
I'm fine with gay people in both men and women professional sports, I'm just saying I wouldn't have my favorite player be a homosexual. I mean, it's like having someone really obnoxious like a Terrell Owens as a favorite player...a guy that loves media and destroys teams and teammates.

Yes, I pick my favorite players based on what they do on and off the court. Not that I'm against gays I just don't see why they need to come out of the closet publicly. Keep it in the bedroom cause I don't want to know your personal issues. It would also affect my thoughts about a player for other off court issues like drugs, wife beating, gun charges, gangster attitude. When I said I liked to watch my favorite player take to the hole I wasn't talking about my butt hole.

I would guess so. Though, I like players for both their skill and their mentality/attitude. If that were to change as a result of going public, I can not guarantee that the player would remain my favorite. I can assure that my preference would not change simply based on a players sexuality.

Does it really matter how well a player performs whether gay or straight? A good player is a good player and a bad player is a bad player. I would still support that player, but it is unfortunate that in our "homophobic" society, most people would probably stop supporting him. Too bad!

Yes, in that the locker room and media pressures put on him would be so much that it would affect his game if not force him to retire! Society hasnt come this far yet.

No because I like my favorite player for who is as a player and as a person.I don't think him coming out would change his personality.

no. i would accept the person for who they are and what they did. not if the person was coming out or not. in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. the point is that you value the person on who they are. and if they are coming out, that is just who that person is. it is their character and i respect that. i may not agree with them, but i give them my respect.

Yes. Although I am pretty sure that all elite players are straight. Gay men are not mentally stable, that explains why they are gay.
