i have a whole bunch of ethernet cords but none are long enough for what i need it for right now. is there an adapter or something i can buy to connect 2 to make a long one?

if there is, how much is it? does it make the connection slower? i'm just thinking if it's like $2 or something, it's worth it for me to just get that rather than buying a 20 foot ethernet cord but i dont know how much it is.

yes you can join up your two ethernat cables together with a dual female rj45 connector but they cost nearly as much as a new 10m cable (well by me neway) and you risk alot of data loss as the wires you are useing may not be capable of transffering your data over the extra distance so i would just say keep those wires in a draw out the way and just buy yourself a nice new longer cable that way there will be no loss of data or loss of transfer rate and a lot easier

Yes, they make a double ended femail RJ-45 adapter for that purpose.

You can have have signal problems using one if you run at higher than 10Mb.

Or, you can order a longer cable online (don't buy them at best buy unless you like paying up to 1000 percent more than its worth)

There is a female/female adapter that you can use but if you dont feel like spending any money just cut 1 RJ-45 connector off of each cable match the colors up and use electrical tape on each color.

hope that helped :-)

You can get a f-to-f connector, but risk interference with that. Or, you could get a cheap hub (<$20) and use that to join two cables.

yeah go to Radio Shack..I am sure they have what you need, either a connector or a longer cord, shouldn't set you back more than 10 bucks tops.

Easy as pie.... They sell ethernet cable couplers, that can easily connect two together.
