i currently have a HP pavilion a1500la, XP, 512 RAM expandible to 2 GB, celeron 3.2GHz, my question is:can i have a 1 GB memory stick and 1 512 or do they both have to be the same? I do know that the memory needed is a pc-2 4200 DDR2 SDRAM. Also is it possible to upgrade from a celeron to a pentium, as i have been told that celeron are lower end processors;and if it can be done what type of pentium would be the recommended? I live in Honduras and is not so easy to always get the matching accesories for my pc as most companies do not ship to here, and sometimes is way expensive to upgrade in this Country.

The best way is to go to your local computer shop and get an upgrade kit. you will get a better processor, more ram and a new better motherboard if you need it. it is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade.

Just make sure everything matches up, make sure the memory you want to upgrade to is FIRST-the right type for your system, and SECOND- see how much the motherboard can hold.

and no mem dosent have to be the same amount, but make sure ur speed matches up so you dont lagg the other stick down.

and for the processor make sure that ur Motherboard can run a pentium, because it may be old and not be able to fit, and if it dose make sure the socket is the correct socket for ur motherboard.

and try www.newegg.com to get ur PC parts there really good.

hope this help :-)

You properly ought to study in case you are able to also improve this to an finished 2gb? you possibly must be in a position to, yet its a count number of looking 2 1gb sticks. This properly help the computer lots at the starting up, You properly be conscious it is is swifter. yet over the years you properly comprehend some issues nonetheless load slower then you quite would like (using processor). in case you do not have the money now RAM is a short fix for the computer to very last perhaps yet another 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. in case you do have the money, purchase a sparkling pc! they are highly low-cost.

Your sticks do not have to be the same size, but should be of the same type ans speed. Even if the speed isn't the same, the faster one will downgrade to the slower one.

You'd need to see the specs for yout motherboard to determine if a processor upgrade is available to you.
